Where faces end by Marc Tremblay (Original Painting)

The Face of the Other depicts a disturbing encounter between humans and a presence
which escapes him, but which nevertheless seems to recognize him. In the center, a child faces
an enigmatic figure immersed in a moving matter where shapes merge
organic, latent faces and fragments of an inner world.
The scene relies less on confrontation than on silent revelation. The child is not
not placed in front of a traditional monster, but in front of a deep, ancient and
indefinable. White lines and tangled shapes create an almost
living, like a matrix where the boundaries between beings become uncertain.
The material of the collage gives the whole thing the appearance of an emotional archive. The title
then designates more than a different face: it evokes the moment when the encounter with the other
questions our own humanity. The painting asks what we recognize
of ourselves when we finally look at what is foreign to us.
