The Faces Behind the Memory by Marc Tremblay (Original Painting)

*Les Visages derrière la mémoire* (Faces Behind Memory) brings together several presences that seem to emerge from an intermediate space—somewhere between recollection, erasure, and persistence. These figures are not mere portraits; they appear as fragments of identity held within the material, as if memory were still striving to give them form.
The large face on the left commands a calm presence, while on the right, other figures emerge through layers and overlays. Some features are sharp, others blurred or absorbed by textures and drips. Red cuts across the work like a raw wound, whereas blue acts as a colder, more cerebral rift.
Collage, layered papers, and inscriptions reinforce the concept of an evocative archive. The title suggests that these figures stand behind memory, in a zone where recognition remains possible even if full reconstruction eludes us. They return not so much as evidence, but as traces.
