A small white rabbit with a button eye, a stitched socket and three needles through its body — smiling.
A small white rabbit sits in a storm of red and purple splatter. One eye is a button; where the other should be, a single black stitch holds the socket shut. Three black needles pass through the body from three directions. The rabbit smiles.
wRabbit was painted between October and December 2025. The canvas began as a surface for cleaning brushes — the last small one left in the studio — and the figure emerged from it intuitively. What arrived there is familiar from the rest of the work: a button for an eye, a stitch where another eye should be, needles where there should be no needles. The rabbit is not a rabbit. It is a soft thing made to carry what a body cannot carry while still being looked at.
