Jorge Humberto Tapia Perez Biography

Germany, born 1983

My work explores the human condition through body, desire, love and death.

Born in Mexico and working as a neurosurgeon in Germany, I approach the body as a site of vulnerability, truth and transformation. Death is not absence, but presence — a force that shapes memory, intimacy and meaning.

Influenced by Mexican cosmovision, death appears as transition rather than rupture. Symbols such as the Catrina or Mictlán emerge as contemporary metaphors for continuity and return.

Alongside death, love forms a central axis of my practice. I explore intimacy, jealousy and loss as existential states, situated between Eros and Thanatos.

My work creates spaces where fragility is not denied, but confronted — and where transformation becomes possible.
