Maurizio Conte is a self-taught draftsman based in Milan, Italy.
After useless technical studies in chemistry, he was active in the Milanese dark underground scene from the late 80s through the 90s, collaborating with underground bands.
A professional photographer until the advent of digital — a medium he never loved — he returned to drawing as his primary language.
His work has been described as "truly captivating intricate and surreal scenes" and "vivid landscapes of the mind," particularly striking for its surreal cityscapes where architectural and organic forms blend into each other.
Deeply influenced by surrealism, dark art, cyberpunk and post-apocalyptic visions, he draws worlds after the end — not to depict destruction, but what remains and keeps growing.
