We live in a society that treats negative emotions and thoughts as if they are unacceptable and something to be shunned and hidden away. When those thoughts and emotions come up, the people around us often think less of us, ignore it, or abandon us. A Thorn Among Flowers is meant to show us that you have to accept the “bad” that comes with the “good”, because we all carry our own darkness that we are trying to work through. It takes the right person/people to see that and stay to help us through that darkness, to accept the thorns we all carry with us.
