Anya’s Starvation

While they may not seem like it, a chess player isn’t much different from any other artist. Like the Artist’s brush, a chess player glides their hand across a canvas (the chess board) to express a level of intelligence and worth that an audience can appreciate. And just like any artist, a chess player can look down at their work and feel disgusted with what they’ve made.

During moments like this, our “starving artist” shadow manifests itself in a way that tries to pull us away from our work.

Humble Queen of Pentacles

Humble Queen of Pentacles. No elaborate jewelry, no exquisite updos, no treasures that surround her. Just an imperfect skirt she hand sewn and the crown, pentacle, belt, and ermine shawl passed down from generations before her. The royal pieces she carries now remind her of her mother and father.
Now that she is queen, she refuses to buy expensive clothes or new furs. She is grateful for what she already has, and what she can make with her own two hands.

modeled with Monsterclay wax, molded in silicone, and cast in polyurethane resin. The coloring
was applied solely by hand and brush with acrylic paint and mixed techniques. A total of 11 pieces were created simultaneously, taking a year to
complete.

were individually hand-glued. A total of 12 pieces were created simultaneously, taking a year to
complete.
