Fabricated from fragments and faith, Moribund captures the threshold between life and death. A blood-soaked hospital bed becomes both altar and coffin. A drainpipe overflows with red blood. An angel lifts a limp arm while the Grim Reaper, grinning and bloodied, holds a chainsaw. Nearby, a mother weeps. The morgue-like room extends into a surreal universe — a man dressed as a devil reads the newspaper, an open drawer waits for a body, and the cosmos glows with the possibility of another dimension. A final breath hangs in the dark, broken only by the bright, unreachable light in the distance.
This painting speaks to the universal terror of that thin line between this world and whatever comes after.
