This is the fourth of a series concerning a number of themes. It deals with the ongoing sexualization/objectification of the body in Western society. Boundaries between the sensual, the erotic and the outright pornographic have become blurred. This also implies a mechanization/digitalization of the erotic. Bodies merge with or become mangled by tools and machines. The settings are soulless, bleak and undefined. Finally it deals with eros and thanatos, the will to live and the death drive. There is an urge to keep striving for pleasure and intimacy even in very unsettling and extremely painful situations, even when somebody is quite literally falling apart. These paintings are meant to be visceral and unapologetic.
