“The man said he loved the forest and wanted to live in it,
so he cut down all the trees to build his house.
He said he cared about the forest’s inhabitants
while the smoke from his fire drove away all the insects
and poisoned the birds’ lungs.
He said he was an animal lover
when he put the knife into the moose he had just shot.
He said he was a nature person
while he started his diesel car
to fetch pesticides for his farmland.
He told his children to follow in his footsteps
