Is it nostalgia for what was, or a yearning for what was never there?
There’s a certain sense of ones own mortality that comes with the loss of a parent. Especially if that parent was never really there anyway.
This is one of a series of canvases I produced in the weeks following the death of my father back in 2023. There was a lot of secretes that came out and I found myself having to completely reassess everything I thought I knew about my own life.
As such, I just painted and let whatever came out just land on the canvas.
