Black silhouettes cross a dead landscape — leafless trees, bleached ground, scattered tufts of dry grass. In the middle distance, two factory buildings stand against a violet storm sky, their grids of windows glowing yellow. The figures walk in the same direction, faceless, some with limbs that bend like spider’s legs, others standing apart and watching.
Decision was made in September 2025, during the weeks the artist was forced by circumstances to take a factory job. The painting holds the question he was asking and could not answer: how do so many people walk this walk every day, into work that empties them. The figures heading toward the buildings are not portraits — they are the question itself, painted.
