Artwork description

“Incub[o]trice” plays with the words “incubatrice” (incubator) and “incubo”(nightmare). A generator of nightmares.

It is a “Seelenlandschaft”, a landscape of the soul. Specifically, the evil of the world contaminates the soul, preventing it from reaching enlightenment. From the bowels of the dark forest, the world, evil arises in different forms and rapes the soul, the sculpture, creating so new evil in the form of small nightmares. These spread and in turn fuel the evil of the world which will continue to rape the soul.

Only by fighting and with great self-discipline and determination will the soul be able to counteract evil and prevent being raped, interrupting so the vicious cycle of evil that generates more evil.

Every time it succeeds, little by little, a key finds its own lock and opens it. When all the locks are opened, the soul will be enlightened and evil will no longer have any power over it.

“Incub[o]trice” is born from a dream.
