Artwork description

The story goes as follows: King Eglon was an evil tyrant known for his great weight and cruelty. He oppressed the peoples around him and from those subjected to him Ehud arose. He fashioned a simple efficient sword where he stole into his chambers and said there was a message from God for him. That message was being gutted as the sword was swallowed up by his girth and Ehud’s people were freed.

I shot the scene twice. The first time the costumes and props just weren’t right. So I then hired a professional costumer and seemingly at random a master sword smith (Scott Roush) created the blade from the exact specifications in the story.

From the series “In the Time of the Judges” based upon the Old Testament book of the same name.
Created in live painting performance.

These are my “Oilgraph” works – A hybrid of traditional film photography and oil paint.
Mounted on wooden panel and ready to hang.
