Artwork description

The patient in this case is a double entendre. This piece was made not long after a dear friend had died of aggressive breast cancer which spread to her brain. It wasn’t until it’s completion, that I realized that I had given this piece surgical scars that one could expect from that specific scenario. While working on the piece, I was only trying to create a sense of the juxtaposition of the agony and the defiance of the terminally ill. I often allow my subconscious to go where it pleases, unaware of a pieces meaning until it reveals itself while in progress or once completed.
