Artwork description

A funerary urn in the form of a stylized Egyptian canopic jar. Canopic jars (which held the extracted organs of mummies) traditionally featured the heads of gods for lids. This example features the likeness of the goddess Sekhmet in the form of a sculpted African Lion skull. It was commissioned to contain the cremated remains of the client’s beloved pet.
