Artwork description

A funerary urn in the form of a stylized Egyptian canopic jar. Canopic jars (which held the extracted organs of mummies) traditionally featured the heads of gods for lids. This example features the likeness of the goddess Isis in the form of a human skull crowned with bull horns and a sun disk.
