Artwork description

A funerary urn in the form of a stylized Egyptian canopic jar. Canopic jars (which held the extracted organs of mummies) traditionally featured the heads of gods for lids. This example features the likeness of Anubis in the form of a sculpted toy fox terrier skull. It was commissioned to contain the cremated remains of the client’s beloved pet.
