We like to think that what the Epstein files are about is unusual. It is not. Girls and women, all over the world, are subdued, subjugated, oppressed, exploited and eventually discarded. Some survive; some do not. Those surviving are forever carrying a dark part of humanity within. Entitlement and unchecked power in closed communities easily escalates to horrors and madness and is extremely dangerous. I equally much wanted to survive as I wanted to die. That itself is a painful limbo to live in. Today I honor this little girl and her resilience and resourcefulness. I am her.
