Totgeweiht Biography

Germany, born 1990

Beauty and necessity are united in all that is natural.
Too many seem alienated from the world and burdened by suffering, having lost sight of this symbiosis.
Following the task of processing a loss, I wanted to find ways to give space to more diverse,
and often suppressed, emotions alongside the predominant notations of anger and frustration.
It is my aim to strengthen understanding and acceptance of death, to make it visible again as something sacred,
and to counter feelings of alienation with a healthier relationship to mourning.

The choice of objects for my work is based on the unity of being and non-being that they represent —
no longer alive, but not yet gone. To give something lost back to something broken —
or to enrich it with something new — to fill a void.

Born and raised in post-soviet rural East-Germany, followed by extensive years of living all over Europe,
I moved back to Germany in 2019 and am based now in Leipzig.
Here I'm active as a sculptor, creating with "Totgeweiht" an ongoing series of works revolving around aforementioned themes -
constantly exploring new perspectives as well as artistic technics along the way.
