Marcus Heard Biography

United States, born 1981

Marcus DeWayne Heard was born on November 1, 1981 in Brenham, Texas. When he was 3 years old, he moved to Washington, Texas with his family of nine. He graduated from Brenham High School in the 2000

and continued his education at a local junior college for a year. Afterwards, he transferred to a college in Arizona to pursue his passion in art, studying animation and media arts.

At the age of thirteen, he had his first art appearance in a fantasy magazine called " Shadow Sword" in which he got paid for. At the age of seventeen, he did a painting and titled it "Secrets of the Sky." It was placed into an art museum in San Francisco, California, as well as earning a plaque in the museum with his name on it and the title of his painting. The painting made front cover of an art book, along with the picture inside and an article about him and his art.

In 2018 and 2019, he has participated in annual art shows in New York City. He now resides in Anderson, Texas with his wife and 4 kids, and working on new art projects.

My artwork has a story within a story. Each piece, each brush stroke has a significant meaning to it. It has a specific message, and speaks through emotions.

My artwork is based on experiences and thoughts in my personal life. It's political, spiritual, and the state of society. Though it's based on my personal experiences and thoughts, it's inspired by the views of others as well. These are people of all ethnic groups, religions, different walks of life and back grounds that shared their life stories with me along with their opinions on certain situations. Also events that happened, rather l agree with them or not, these events happened, and has become a reality in our society. In many ways, I can relate to certain stands that have been made to bring awareness to what's going on in America.

I want the truth to be known, and art has a voice and a platform to speak and to be heard, visually and emotionally.
